2021 International Grassland Congress

Doctor A. Morrie Craig has an extensive background in livestock and agriculture toxicology research and was a longtime professor at Oregon State University. A respected voice in his field, Dr. A. Morrie Craig has been invited as a speaker at the 2021 International Grassland Congress (IGC).

Held in Nairobi, Kenya, the gathering brings together scientists, industry representatives, primary producers, and students in sharing research and knowledge. The common thread of presentations is a focus on an ecosystem that makes up 27 percent of the planet’s land area and 70 percent of its agricultural land. In all, 800 million people have livelihoods dependent on grasslands industries such as livestock husbandry and agriculture.

Established in Europe in the 1920s, IGC takes place every three to five years and brings together more than a thousand delegates representing 80 countries. Topics discussed include sustainability, ecosystem services, and wildlife habitat, a well as livestock production systems and grassland policies. Planned as a virtual event, the 2021 Joint Congress’ theme is “Sustainable Use of Grassland and Rangeland Resources for Improved Livelihood.”
