About The International Grassland 2021 Joint Congress

A member of the American Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians (AAVLD), Dr. Morrie Craig served as a professor of toxicology at Oregon State University. Also an accomplished researcher, A. Morrie Craig, PhD is the author of more than 200 peer-reviewed publications, and will be a speaker at the forthcoming International Grassland Congress.

The international grassland society is an association of researchers from all over the world, who come together to share ideas and novel innovations in grassland science. The congress has been in effect since 1927, when only 16 scientists from 6 countries assembled in Bremen, Germany, before conducting a study tour in the north-west region of the country. For 30 years subsequently, European researchers (from Western Europe, North America, New Zealand, and Australia) contributed about 75 percent of total scientific publications presented in the congress - mainly because these regions had an established history of grassland research. Till date, the location of congresses is alternated between continents.

The Joint XXIV IGC and XI IRC Congress, which was formerly scheduled to hold in October 2020 have now been postponed to October 23rd through 29th of 2021. This gathering will take place in Nairobi, Kenya. The aim of the congress, entitled “Sustainable Use of Grassland and Rangeland Resources for Improved Livelihood," will be to encourage and promote the interchange of technical and scientific information in every aspect of rangelands and grasslands. This broad theme will address multiple sub-topics - such as ecology, livestock production system, forage production and utilization, climate change in rangelands and drought management, and legal issues.
