About Morrie Craig

Renowned veterinarian and toxicology researcher Dr. Morrie Craig began his academic career as a student at the United States Coast Guard Academy. Dr. Morrie Craig then started his long-standing affiliation with Oregon State University (OSU), where he obtained advanced degrees in biochemistry and biophysics.

He completed post-doctoral programs at the California Institute of Technology and the University of Oregon, Eugene, before returning to OSU as a research associate. After becoming a professor at the OSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 1992, he remained in this role until his retirement in 2019. He also spent 20 years as a toxicologist for the school’s diagnostic laboratory and directed the endophyte laboratory for over a decade.

Dr. Craig is also a respected authority on racing-greyhound health. In addition to co-authoring three textbooks on greyhound care, he developed the official drug testing guidelines followed by the National Greyhound Association. Outside of his work in the veterinary field, he is an avid traveler, visiting more than 50 countries.
